Are you bored of all the same scary haunted houses you visit around this time of year? Looking for something different to do to celebrate your favorite spooky holiday? If you live close to Pennsylvania this year, you’re in luck. There’s a new awesome-sounding Halloween-themed activity that we can’t wait to get on board with.
Literally on board, that is. It’s a haunted train ride, and it sounds like the most fun ever, especially for those who don’t scare easily or love a good thrill. The ride is limited to just adults and teens, as it’s rated “PG 13” due to how scary it is, so anyone under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
Hosted by the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad, the haunted train ride lasts about 40 minutes once it leaves from the quaint small town of New Hope. Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly what kinds of spooky sights and sounds you’ll witness on the ride, but we do know it’s going to scare your socks off.
“When this train leaves the safety of the station, you are tossed into the hands of the unknown. Our creatures are sure to frighten the strongest of heart, and test the nerve of all onboard,” the website states. “So, climb aboard this haunted train ride that’s guaranteed to send chills shimmying up and down your spine on an October adventure you won’t soon forget.”
The old-school train you’ll be riding on fit the mood, with its vintage seats and equipment, with the the original work dating back to 1913 through 1935. The best part is, the ride is super affordable, at just $39.99 per person!
So when can you get in on the train ride, and how can you get your tickets? The ride will run on weekends and some week days beginning October 17 with the last rides on Halloween, October 31. Times vary from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and departs from the New Hope Train Station, located at 32 W. Bridge Street in New Hope, Pennsylvania.
Here you can view the dates available, purchase your tickets, and find answers to all of your questions. Be sure to book quickly; tickets will sell out quickly!
If you’ve got a little tyke under the age of 13, don’t worry, the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad also has some kid-friendly activities as well. There’s a Trick or Treat ride starting on October 11. Also a 45-minute train ride, the Trick or Treat Train Excursion has all sorts of fun non-scary activities for the little ones. They’ll enjoy a reading of Spookley the Square Pumpkin children’s book as well as a fun interactive sing-along for tons of festive cheerful songs. Don’t forget to let them pick out a costume to wear!
After the ride, they’ll get to trick or treat around the New Hope train station. Trick or treat bags will be supplied and assorted trinkets and candy will be given out on the train as well as in the station.
Are you more of a thrill-seeker or do you like to err on the less scary ride of things? Do you think you’ll participate on the haunted train or take the little ones on the trick or treat train? What’s your favorite way to celebrate Halloween?
