Every marriage takes work. The honeymoon phase where you’re in love with your spouse including every single one of his or her little quirks only lasts so long. Eventually, those little quirks and differences you used to find so attractive can become annoying. The work becomes choosing to love each other anyway.
Reese Witherspoon is on her second marriage. The actress married Ryan Phillippe back in 1999, and after having two children together, the couple divorced in 2008. Then, in 2011, Witherspoon tied the knot again, this time to Jim Toth. The couple now have a son and celebrated their 11 year wedding anniversary earlier this year.
Witherspoon and Toth have spoken glowingly of each other on social media. For example, back in July 2020, Witherspoon shared a series of photos giving her hubby props on his birthday. She called him “amazing” and praised him for always putting his whole effort into everything he does.

Then in March, in honor of the couple’s 11 year anniversary, Witherspoon posted another set of photos and called herself “lucky” to be married to Toth.

According to inside sources that spoke to RadarOnline, there is trouble in paradise. The sources reveal that Witherspoon and Toth have not been spending as much time together as they used to and that they have different thoughts about being in the public eye.
One source explained that Toth “prefers a quieter existence” while Witherspoon likes to fill her schedule with obligations that keep her busy. The source explained, “Jim is hardly ever with her and it wasn’t always like that. Friends are worried that they’ve stopped putting the work in.”
The source claims that, unlike Witherspoon, Toth doesn’t like to be in the public eye. The source said that Toth “likes to escape the noise.” The source continued, “The hecticness that surrounds Reese is a lot and sometimes too much to handle.”
While it is not necessarily unhealthy for a couple to have separate interests and to spend some time apart, the insider seems to think that the amount of time Witherspoon and Toth are spending apart is not good for their marriage. The source claimed that sometimes the couple doesn’t even talk to each other for “days,” and when they do finally talk to each other, “it’s usually about their son.”
Even though Witherspoon’s schedule can be full, she sometimes makes a point of clearing time to spend with her husband. The insider went on to explain that when she makes time for him, “he disappears off to hang with his buddies.”
The source believes Witherspoon and Toth’s marriage has “issues,” but the source also doesn’t think divorce is on the table, at least, not right now. The source explained, “Jim would have to do something really bad for her to push the divorce button.”
