On Saturday May 25, 2024, 15-year-old Australian dirt bike star Amelia Kotze had no idea that she would be competing for her very last time. Her final race was at the Central Coast Cup at Allen Park, which is about an hour from Sydney. During the race, she was involved in a crash that left her with life-threatening injuries. 7news reports that she was transported to a hospital in Sydney.

Unfortunately, Kotze lost her battle for her life on Tuesday. Motorcycling New South Wales announced the sad news sharing “It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of rider Amelia Kotze.” They described her as “a beloved member of our motorcycling community” and “a favourite among peers and competitors alike.”

The organization also listed many of Kotze’s accomplishments sharing, “she proudly secured the Junior Girls State Titles in Victoria last November, triumphed at last year’s NSW Junior Track Championships, and shone brightly at the Australian Dirt Track Championships. Her exceptional skills and relentless passion for racing earned her the prestigious title of Junior Female Rider of the Year at the Motorcycling NSW Awards last year.”

The organization added, “Her loss is deeply felt across our community, and she will be remembered not only for her incredible achievements on the track but also for the joy and inspiration she brought to all who knew her.”

After the crash, a GoFundMe page was set up to help her family pay for medical expenses. Her death was tragically announced on this page as well as an update to the GoFundMe. The update reads, “Our little champion of the track has finished her race here with us and has gained her wings to now race in heaven. You were such an inspiration to everyone and you will be dearly missed by all.. Hold the throttle on babe, Fly high and ride hard beautiful girl. Forever #789 xoxo”

So far the GoFundMe has raised almost $15000 of the $20,000 goal.
