Megxit is coming up quickly. March 9th is the last day that Harry and Meghan will be performing official royal duties.

While we’ve known about Megxit for awhile now, and while the Queen has said that she understands why Harry wants to drop out of royal life, it wasn’t until recently that she was able to have a one-on-one chat with her grandson since the news had been announced.

A royal source told The Sun that this past Sunday Harry discreetly left Frogmore Cottage, his and Meghan’s home in Windsor Home Park. He walked from the cottage to Windsor Castle where he met with his grandmother for lunch. He arrived around 1pm and stayed at the castle for about 4 hours, well into the afternoon.

“Sunday was the first time the Queen has had the chance to talk to Harry on his own and really find out what his plans are. It was a much more relaxed environment and they were both able to speak their mind.”

Besides the Queen’s dogs, Harry was alone with his grandmother during their chat. The source said, “She made it very clear to him that he and Meghan are always able to come back if they change their minds and she will welcome them with open arms.”

Harry and Meghan plan to live in Canada with their son Archie. The Queen has expressed that she wishes she could see her great-grandson more often.

Meghan will be flying to London for her last royal duties, but she is not bringing Archie with her. He will be staying at home in Canada with a nanny and with Meghan’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney.

While the Queen seems to have accepted Harry’s decision to move to Canada and make his own way in the world, she wants to make sure that he doesn’t “cash in” on the royal name. That’s why she will not let Harry and Meghan use Sussex Royal as their brand.

According to the royal source, “She wanted to make certain Harry knew there were limits and the whole set-up is subject to a review after 12 months.”

Even though Harry and Meghan will no longer have royal duties or be living in London after March, they will return periodically. For example, Harry is planning on attending the London Marathon in April, and Harry and Meghan are both planning on attending the Invictus Games in the Netherlands in May.
