Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in Sydney, Australia, for the Invictus Games this past weekend for the sailing competition. In all the excitement, Prince Harry got the hug of his life.

As he and pregnant wife Meghan were on the water in a dhingy, another boat pulled up beside them with sailors for the event. One of those sailors was American Robert Hufford, who after being introduced to the Duke of Sussex, went in for a bear hug.

He squeezed Prince Harry in a tight hold and lifted him off his feet, causing Meghan to giggle hysterically. While the duchess looked on and remarked, “Now that’s a hug!”, he smiled and jokingly cautioned the sailor against hugging his pregnant wife that same way.

She was met with gentle handshake and hug as everyone laughed it off. Royal watchers observed that hugging a royal – much less a bear-tight grip – goes against typical royal protocol. While that is true, it seems everything was taken in good jest and fun during the games.

With everyone excited about the competition that centers around wounded veterans, the prince was probably more occupied with the event and his wife’s well-being.
