Prince Harry Has Arrived in the UK for Prince Philip’s Funeral
On Friday April 9, 2021, Prince Philip didn’t wake up. He died peacefully in his sleep. The Queen’s husband was 99 years old. He would’ve celebrated his 100th birthday in June.
Just two days later, on Sunday April 11, 2021, Prince Harry flew from California to the UK almost a week ahead of his grandfather’s funeral. His wife, Meghan Markle, was not given medical clearance by her doctor to travel since she is currently pregnant with the couple’s second child, a baby girl. Meghan and the couple’s first child, Archie, are staying home in California. That means that Harry is traveling alone.
It has been over a year since Harry visited the UK. In that time he has lived in Canada, Los Angeles, and now has settled at a home in Santa Barbara. More recently, he and Meghan sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a tell-all interview that didn’t go over so well with the royal family.
Obviously this is a sad time for the royal family with the passing of Prince Philip, but it is probably extra stressful for Harry since he is not on the best of terms with some of his family members. Watch the video below for more details.
Prince Philip’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday April 17, 2021, at 3pm local time. It will take place at St. George’s Chapel, and it will not be open for the public to attend. Only The Queen and the royal family will attend the funeral in person.
Keeping with the late Duke’s wishes, he the funeral will celebrate his life and service. The Queen has approved the plans for the funeral.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said, “While this is naturally a time of sadness and mourning for the royal family and the many others who knew and admired the Duke of Edinburgh, it is hoped that the coming days will also be seen as an opportunity to celebrate a remarkable life: Remarkable both in terms of his vast contribution and lasting legacy.”
