For the last nine months, we’ve all watched with baited breath as Prince Harry and American actress, Meghan Markle, canoodled adorably at public events. (And, little did we all know, the pair had been quietly dating six months before they went “public” in February of 2017.) Meghan even met Queen Elizabeth for tea recently, inciting the question that was on everyone’s lips: when are these two lovebirds going to get engaged?

Well, on November 27th, 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finally confirmed what we’ve all been waiting to hear: the engagement is official!

Prince Charles, Harry’s father, spoke on behalf of the pair early Monday morning, announcing not just the official engagement but even more details. A statement from Clarence House read:

“The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course. His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty the Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents. The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.”

Just hours later, Harry and Meghan held a press conference at the Sunken Gardens at Kensington Palace, where Meghan showed off her engagement ring for the very first time.

The couple spoke with reporters about how happy they were and how romantic the proposal was — Harry even said that he had known Meghan was the One “since the very first time we met,” which is without a doubt melting hearts everywhere!

As it turns out, we all should have been suspicious that this announcement was coming days before it happened!

On November 21st, 2017, Meghan moved out of her Toronto apartment and flew out to London to settle in Harry’s home at Kensington Palace. Sadly, this new move temporarily separated from her beloved rescue dogs, a beagle named Guy and a labrador-shepherd named Bogart. Currently, she’s making sure her pups have a laundry list of vaccinations to make them safe to live in the royal palace.

In the meantime, we’re sure both Harry and Meghan will be extremely busy planning the royal wedding to come. The long-awaited event will take place in around five months and we can’t wait to see the extravagant celebration Buckingham Palace pulls together in that time!
