It can be pretty exciting and a little nerve-wracking when you’re expecting your first child. You know your life is never going to be the same, but you don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like, so you plan, you save, you read the books, and you ask for advice from friends who have kids.

Courtney English is 23-years-old, and she’s currently expecting her first child around April 1st. Even though she’s well into her 3rd trimester, she’s still working hard at her job as a waitress. She’s on her feet all day at the Lamp Post Diner in Clementon, New Jersey, because she wants to save as much money as she can before her little girl arrives.

Courtney is a friendly waitress who is good at her job. According to her dad, Brian Cadigan, she has many regular customers, but as he shared in a Facebook post on February 16th, a customer who is not one of her regulars made a very kind and generous gesture.

Brian wrote, “Yesterday she [Courtney] was working the lunch shift when a Voorhees Twp police officer came in, he was pleasant, and had his lunch by himself, and asked for the check. My daughter gave him his check, and moved on to wait other tables, the officer went to the cashier and paid his bill, and left a note on the bill for my Daughter, this officer, who I am sure works his butt off for his paycheck left her a $100 tip on a $9.00 ticket and the note simply said ‘Enjoy your first, You will never forget it.’”

Courtney had no idea about the generous tip or the note until after the customer left. She was moved to tears. She said, “I respect all officers, so I mean it just gives me a higher respect for them and their job.”

The officer has chosen to remain anonymous, but Courtney wants him to know that “it really means a lot.”

Brian’s Facebook post has been shared over 3000 times and has over 800 comments. At the end of his post, he wrote, “I don’t know you Mr Police Officer, but you made my little girl cry, and made her year. Thank you, I always had the utmost respect for Officers, but you went above and beyond not just an officer, but a beautiful human being. God Bless.”

Multiple people who have commented on Brian’s post share his feelings of gratitude and thankfulness. For example, one person wrote, “This post brought tears to my eyes! Love love hearing about random acts of kindness! I believe there are still a lot of good people in this world! Thank you kind officer for setting a good example and thank you for your service! Many blessing to the mama to be! Such a special time!”
