Perdue Chicken Nuggets Recalled Over Concerns of Wood Contamination

Perdue Foods has issued a recall of more than 68,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets. The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that the “Perdue Simply Smart Organics” gluten-free chicken nuggets may possibly be contaminated with wood pieces.

The products were shipped to retailers nationwide. Consumers (and warehouse distributors) will want to check the following product packages:

22 oz. Perdue Simply Smart Organics Gluten Free Chicken Breast Nuggets

UPC Bar Code: 72745-80656; Plant Code: 33944; Best By Date: 10/25/19

Check the back of the package’s label to locate the product’s information. Perdue received several complaints of customers opening the bags and finding wood inside of them, while one case was reported directly to the USDA. The company notified the agency of the problem and issued a voluntary recall. So far, no illnesses or injuries have been reported.

Customers who purchased these nuggets should either discard the item or return it to the place it was purchased for a refund. If you have questions about the recall, you may contact Perdue at 877.727.3447 for additional information.
