My Mom was born in 1921 and lived through the Great Depression. She taught me not to be wasteful.
One of the things she did was to wrap her parcels in paper bags to mail. She used twine to tie them. I remember holding the half knot with my index finger for her to make the knot tighter.
Just save your paper bags until you need to mail a package. Then cut up enough paper bags to wrap your package. I use package tape on all the seams.
You save money and trees by not buying packaging paper.
