NICUs Across The Country Celebrated Halloween And Here’s What It Looked Like
While many parents celebrate Halloween by taking their kiddos trick-or-treating or trunk-or-treating, if you have a baby in the NICU, Halloween looks a little different.
While these little babies are definitely too young to enjoy candy, their tiny bodies are not too small to wear their very first Halloween costumes. Many parents and NICU workers turned to Instagram to share photos of these brave babies on their very first Halloween. Though they are tiny, they are fighters.
The Littlest Pumpkin
This tiny tike’s mom shares this photo of her son last Halloween when he was just 10 days old and was in the NICU. She was torn between spending the day with him or taking her older children trick-or-treating. Since she couldn’t choose, she did both. “I got up extra early to cuddle Jack then booked it 2.5 hours home to see the girls dressed up and went back to the NICU immediately after.”
Rock, Paper, Scissors
This is a very creative costume idea for triplets in the NICU.
A fitting costume for such a little fighter.
The NICU Zoo
The NICU staff gets in on the Halloween fun too. One worker shared “I didn’t get to work on the night of our Halloween party this year but you better believe I showed up anyway to see our babies in their costumes.”
Definitely an appropriate costume for a tiny superhero.
The costume may be a little big, but we’re sure this little superhero will grow into it.
While many crafty people knit or crochet hats for newborn and NICU babies, these hats were delivered to the hospital for Halloween. We’re sure the little ones who wore them looked extra sweet.
It’s a Family Thing
Parents and older siblings dress in costume to visit their littlest family member on Halloween.
This little mouse is dreaming of her first trip to Disneyland.
Cupcakes and Candy Corn
These little babies are every bit at sweet as their costumes.
Family Theme Costume
This Snow White may be tiny but her parents (two of her dwarves, Grumpy and Doc) are certainly thrilled to be spending her first Halloween with her.
This tiny baby is probably about the same size as the doll in the movie. So sweet.
Hot dog, that’s a cute costume!
One NICU nurse shares that this is her favorite day of the year. She loves seeing all the babies dressed up. We think this little latte is sweet enough to keep even the most exhausted parents and nurses awake.
Wondering how these tiny babies and these exhausted parents got these teeny tiny costumes? Some of them had a little help. Watch this sweet video.View this post on Instagram
Our NICU families are celebrating their first Halloween in a special way. Staff and parents of NICU graduates delivered hand-made costumes for our tiniest patients… and it was simply magic (*sound on for this sweet treat!). ?? ? #wakemed #nicu #nicuhalloween #halloween #nicubabies #babies #newborns #preemies #raleighnc
