First burns, and now broken bones. The bad news has yet to stop for Jay Leno.

Two months after he was injured in a garage fire, Leno was injured again and back in the hospital. On January 17, 2023, he was in an accident when he was riding his motorcycle. He cracked his kneecap, and broke his collar bone and two ribs.

Leno broke the news of the motorcycle accident to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. When asked how he was recovering after his accident, meaning the burn accident, Leno responded, “It’s so funny you should say that. That was the first accident. OK? Then just last week, I got knocked off my motorcycle. So I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.”

The motorcycle Leno was riding was a vintage motorcycle that he was working on. While he was riding it, he smelled leaking gas. Leno explained, “So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it. So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clothesline, me and, boom, knocked me off the bike.” He added, “The bike kept going, and you know how that works out.”

Since Leno has just recently recovered from serious burns and had so much attention because of that, he stayed quiet publicly about the motorcycle accident because he didn’t want even more attention. He joked, “You know, after getting burned up, you get that one for free. After that, you’re Harrison Ford, crashing airplanes. You just want to keep your head down.”

Two months earlier, on November 12, 2022, comedian Jay Leno was working on one of his vintage cars in the garage in Burbank, California, where he keeps his car collection. While he was working on the car, a fire broke out, and he ended up with part of his face on fire. He ended up going to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Leno made a full recovery, and just days later was back at work performing stand-up at the Comedy Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California. He was cracking jokes as he walked into the club and didn’t seem to think it was a big deal to be back to work so quickly after being released from the hospital.

Just like after his first hospitalization, Leno is also back at work after his motorcycle accident. He is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas this March.
