Life is full of struggles. Whether they be emotional, physical, or financial, everybody knows what it feels like to get knocked down every once in a while. And though we, as people, hold the strength to overcome adversity, we can all agree that each and every person out there deserves help getting back up!
Even small gestures can make huge differences in the lives of those who are trying to gain some stability, and this sentiment couldn’t be more true for the subject of today’s story: A single mother who is just trying her darndest to keep her child fed and her spirits up.
In a viral Facebook post, an anonymous person writes about how their small gesture changes a single mom’s day for the better.
The mysterious user sets the scene by recounting the day when they were sitting in a McDonald’s, just chillin’ and sipping on a Sprite. All is fine and well, until they turn their attention to a woman who is sitting in a corner alone, obviously waiting for someone to arrive.
In the post, they recall witnessing just who the woman had been waiting for all that time [all sic]:
She’s been here since before I got here. In walks a man with a small boy, maybe 3 years old if that. “You were supposed to be here an Hour ago.” She says, slightly upset. “Well I’m here and here he is.” The man turns to walk out the door. She says, “Hey do you have a couple dollars so I can get a cheeseburger? All I have is enough for his happy meal.”
If you’re taking into account the man’s behavior thus far, then we bet you’re not surprised that he doesn’t end up lending the struggling mother any money for her meal. He simply hurls an insult at her and walks out of the restaurant. The nerve of some people! That just makes our blood boil!
The anonymous observer notes that, despite receiving such cruelty from her ex, she still manages to keep a calm façade for her little son, purchasing his Happy Meal with change that she manages to find in her car.
With the scene pulling at the heartstrings of our narrator, they then make a split-second decision that ends up making a BIG difference for the hungry single mom. This kind person hands over their debit card to a McDonald’s employee with the instructions to deliver a huge order of deliciousness to the unsuspecting woman.
Keep your head up and always push forward. You CAN. You WILL.
After receiving the meal and note, the mom starts with some compulsory waterworks, but quickly gets it together, spending the time to enjoy the moment with her child, happily trading chicken nuggets for bites of burgers.
Wow! How’s THAT for looking out for your fellow man? The observant momma leaves the McDonald’s with an idea of who treated her—they even get to share a special moment on the down-low.
