This Man Told A Breastfeeding Mother To Cover Up And She Took His Request Literally

Breastfeeding is a truly beautiful thing—your body knows exactly how much milk to give your baby, and then you can feed them straight from the source! What’s more, your body then produces more milk, helping your baby grow and thrive. It’s amazing.

However, some people can’t get passed the idea of a woman unbuttoning her shirt in public to feed her baby. All they see is breast—and can’t understand that it’s simply a woman feeding her child and nothing sexual. After all, would anyone have an issue with a woman offering a bottle in public? Probably not!

In one instance, a woman was breastfeeding her child in public—she had to! She had no choice; her baby was hungry and she was out and about. So she began to nurse her child.

However, one onlooker wasn’t too happy about that. Not minding his own business, he decided to go up to her and proceed to tell her that she needed to “cover up.”

She wasn’t about to stop feeding her baby, and didn’t wan to start too much of a confrontation, so instead, she did as she was told: She “covered up”—aka she put a shirt over her head and covered that up. Well, he didn’t clarify which part of her body to cover up, did he?

A picture of the woman was shown on a now-viral Facebook post from a friend of her mother-in-law’s.

“A friend’s daughter-in-law was told to ‘cover up’ while feeding her baby, so she did!🤣 I’ve never met her, but I think she’s AWESOME!!!” she wrote in the post, which racked up over 137,000 likes and 225,000 shares.

People who saw it really resonated with it, explaining how nursing moms need more support.

“Doing what is a natural thing to do,” someone wrote. “Always get the one busy body. If it offends you look the other way. Breastfeeding is a perfectly natural thing to do. Well done.”

“There is a time and a place for breastfeeding; whenever your baby is hungry and wherever you happen to be,” someone else wrote.

“You can see more of a bob at a public beach in July than you can see from a woman breastfeeding a baby,” another person observed.

We hope the man who told her to cover up feels pretty silly now!

What are your thoughts on breastfeeding in a public place? What do you think of this woman’s reaction to being told to ‘cover up”?
