Just yesterday, David Crosby, one of the founding members of the folk rock bands the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, posted multiple times on Twitter. Many of his tweets yesterday were retweets, but one is quite telling, especially considering the news today.

Crosby retweeted a tweet that includes a screenshot of a Google search. The text reads, “People with tattoos will not go to heaven. People who drink alcohol will not go to heaven. People who eat too much pork will also not go to heaven. Short people will not go to heaven.” On Crosby’s retweet, he wrote, “I heard the place is overrated….cloudy.”

Crosby now officially knows what happens after death. Did he go to heaven? Was is “overrated….cloudy”?

Crosby’s representative confirmed his death to Variety but did not reveal a cause of death. Crosby’s wife, Jan Dance, also released a statement, and while she did not mention a specific cause of death, she did refer to “a long illness.” She explained, “It is with great sadness after a long illness, that our beloved David (Croz) Crosby has passed away.” She added, “He was lovingly surrounded by his wife and soulmate Jan and son Django. Although he is no longer here with us, his humanity and kind soul will continue to guide and inspire us. His legacy will continue to live on through his legendary music. Peace, love, and harmony to all who knew David and those he touched. We will miss him dearly. At this time, we respectfully and kindly ask for privacy as we grieve and try to deal with our profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers.” Crosby was 81 years old.

In response to the news about Crosby’s death, his former musical partner, Graham Nash, shared on social media, “It is with a deep and profound sadness that I learned that my friend David Crosby has passed.” He added, “I know people tend to focus on how volatile our relationship has been at times, but what has always mattered to David and me more than anything was the pure joy of the music we created together, the sound we discovered with one another, and the deep friendship we shared over all these many long years.”

Rest in peace.
