Just two days after attending the Golden Globes in Los Angeles, Lisa Marie Presley, the only daughter of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley, was rushed to the hospital where she later died. Her death was unexpected, shocking her family and her fans. The cause of death is still being investigated but foul play is not suspected.

On Sunday January 22, approximately 5000 mourners gathered at Graceland for Lisa Marie’s memorial service. Just two weeks earlier, Lisa Marie had been there, alive and well to celebrate her late father’s birthday.

The memorial service was quite emotional and included many musical tributes and heartfelt eulogies. The mourners included multiple celebrities with connections to the Presley family, such as Austin Butler, the actor who played Elvis in the 2022 movie “Elvis.”

Priscilla read a poem that was written by one of Lisa Marie’s daughters, Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood. She read, “Lisa Marie Presley was an icon, a role model, a superhero to many people all over the world. In 1968, she entered our world, born tired, fragile, yet strong. She was delicate, but was filled with life. She always knew she wouldn’t be here too long. Childhood passes by, with a glimpse of her green eye. She then grew a family of her own.”

When she had finished reading the poem, Priscilla added, “Our heart is broken. Lisa, we all love you.”

Lisa Marie’s oldest daughter, Riley Keough, was too emotional to delivery the eulogy she wrote, so her husband, Ben Smith-Peterson read the eulogy on her behalf. She wrote, “A letter to my mama. I remember everything. I remember you giving me baths as a baby. I remember all the notes you’d leave in my lunch box everyday.” The eulogy continued, “I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me.” A surprise to the public was that Riley and Ben had welcomed their first child, a daughter, shortly before Lisa Marie’s death.
