For academy award nominated actor Jeremy Renner, 2023 got off to a horrific start. He was at his home in Nevada on January 1st when he was injured by a piece of snow removal equipment that he owns.

CNN reports that the 911 call after Renner’s accident explained that Renner was “completely crushed under a large snowcat [vehicle].” Not only was he having trouble breathing but “the right side of his chest is collapsed – upper torso is crushed.”

Renner was airlifted to a medical center to receive treatment for his injuries. According to a representative for Renner, he suffered from “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries,” and he underwent surgery for those injuries the very next day.

Renner’s first social media update about his injuries came in the form of a selfie on Instagram. He posted a picture of himself in his hospital bed and simply captioned the photo, “Thank you all for your kind words. I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”

Renner had two surgeries at the hospital, and one source told Radar Online that his injuries were much worse than anyone has publicly admitted.

Renner was still in the hospital on January 7th, his 52nd birthday, but it appears that he is finally home. In a tweet replying to a post from Paramount+ about his show “Mayor of Kingstown,” he explained, “Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home.”

While it is good news that Renner was released from the hospital, it definitely does not mean that he has made a full recovery. According to Radar One’s source, his injuries are “much worse than anyone knows” and he “is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there.”

While he has already had two surgeries, it is likely that he will have several more. One insider told Radar One, “Word is the damage to Jeremy’s chest was so substantial, it had to be reconstructed in surgery.” The source added, “So far, he’s had two surgeries and he will likely require more in the weeks ahead on his leg.” The source explained, “Doctors tend to space out operations to allow time for the body’s natural healing process to kick in, and that’s the case here.” This source believes it could be two years before Renner makes a full recovery.
