The world has been talking about the surprising incident at the Academy Awards that happened between Chris Rock and Will Smith. Rock made a joke and Smith was offended. He took out his anger by slapping Rock in the face.
In case you missed it, the joke was about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her shaved head. While Smith initially laughed at the joke, his wife did not. We don’t know exactly what happened between Smith laughing and his decision to walk on stage. The cameras turned back to Rock.
Did Smith and Pinkett Smith exchange words? Did Smith simply see the look on his wife’s face? Did he misunderstand the joke initially and then have a different reaction when reality sunk in? We do not know. We just know that even though Smith has since apologized for his violent actions, he claimed that he took action to defend his family.
That’s great, but what does Pinkett Smith think about all of this? She was seen dancing the night away with her Oscar winning husband at the Vanity Fair after party, but until now we haven’t had any insight into what has been going on in her head about this controversy.
Before the Oscars, Pinkett Smith posted pictures of herself dressed and ready for the awards show. Since then, she was absent from Instagram, until now. Earlier today, she posted a simple post, yet it is telling in its simplicity. She posted, “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.”
Will she eventually have more to say about her thoughts regarding her husbands action at the Oscars? Perhaps or perhaps not. What do you think? Do you think Pinkett Smith will speak out in defense of her husband or about why she was so offended by Rock’s joke? Do you think she believes her husband went too far, or do you think she was happy that he defended her?
