Instagram Bans Kanye West For ‘Bullying’ Trevor Noah

Shortly after being declared officially single, Kim Kardashian‘s ex, Kanye West, who was also now officially single, retaliated against her and her boyfriend, Pete Davidson by venting in the form of a disturbing new music video. In the video, West, who legally changed his name to Ye, killed, decapitated and buried a claymation version of Davidson. Not very subtle.

Many people found Ye’s new video disturbing and thought he had gone too far. Davidson didn’t react right away, but when he did, he offered to meet with Ye one-on-one to talk. He also suggested that he thinks Ye needs mental help.

Another person who reacted to Ye’s video was “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah. On the show, Noah described Ye’s behavior towards his ex-wife and her boyfriend as “harassing.” He also expressed “worry” about Ye’s behavior.

Ye isn’t one to take kindly to criticism, so when he heard Noah’s comments, he took to Instagram with Noah as his latest target. While that might have been a nice break for Davidson, it appears that this time he really went too far. This time, he posted something that got him temporarily banned from Instagram.

That’s right. Posting a music video where you act out killing your ex-wife’s boyfriend isn’t enough to get banned from Instagram. That’s probably considered art. However, Instagram has rules when it comes to racial slurs.

Noah is a South African comedian, and Ye took aim at his ancestry by changing the words to “Kumbaya,” an African American spiritual. Along with a picture of Noah, Ye wrote, “All in together now… K–n baya my lord k–n baya K–n baya my lord K–n baya Oooo’ lord K–n baya.”

Noah didn’t ignore Ye’s post. Instead, before Instagram banned Ye, Noah responded. He wrote a lengthy comment telling Ye how much he respects him but emphasizing that he thinks he needs help:

“There are few artists who have had more of an impact on me than you Ye. You took samples and turned them into symphonies. You took your pain and through the wire turned it into performance perfection. I thought differently about how I spend my money because of you, I learned to protect my child-like creativity from grown thoughts because of you, shit I still smile every time I put on my seatbelt because of you. You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this. I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain. Oh and as for K–n…clearly some people graduate but we still stupid. Don’t ever forget, the biggest trick racists ever played on black people was teaching us to strip each other of our blackness whenever we disagree. Tricking us into dividing ourselves up into splinters so that we would never unite into a powerful rod.”

You can watch the segment from “The Daily Show” where Noah talks about Ye, Kardashian and Davidson in the video below. This is what set Ye off and ultimately got him banned from Instagram.

Until the ban is lifted, Ye can’t post anything, comment on anyone else’s posts or DM anyone for 24 hours.
