A generic form of infant ibuprofen has been voluntarily recalled by the manufacturer, and parents are urged to check their cabinets for the medicine. The affected product has been sold at Wal-Mart, CVS, and Family Dollar.
Tris Pharma, Inc., is recalling Infants’ Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension for having excessive amounts of ibuprofen in it. All packages were sold in the US in 0.5-ounce bottle sizes. As an NSAID, the increased risk for side effects can be detrimental to infants.
Severe reactions may include nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach pain, tinnitus, and kidney damage. Retailers are being asked to stop selling the product and consumers are urged to contact their doctors if they notice any medical issues arising from use of this ibuprofen.
