Tortillas are usually one of the ingredients that makes it into most pantry staple lists. They are great to use for quick wraps or meals and can usually be found cheaply at the grocery store. However, The Good Life…On Less has a way to have them for even less. This recipe for homemade tortillas cuts out the lard or shortening that is in other unhealthier versions of tortilla recipes.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/3 cup canola oil
- 1 cup warm water
Here’s a quick note about making them healthier:
I usually use half all-purpose white flour and half whole wheat or soft white wheat flour. The tortillas taste better and are easier to make if you use just white flour. If you try to use all whole wheat flour they will taste like cardboard.
