How to Make Footprints in the Sand Keepsakes

To the dismay of parents everywhere, little ones only stay little for a short amount of time. So it’s important to create memories to remember those precious times. What better way to do this than to create footprints in the sand keepsakes, courtesy of Paging Fun Mums, that you can hang on the wall or display and cherish forever? This tutorial shoes you how it’s done with a handprint, but you can use footprints, handprints, text or whatever else you’d like. Just let your imagination run wild with this one.

Here’s what you need for this DIY project:

-An old sheet or plastic tablecloth (to protect your work surface).
-A photo frame big enough to fit the number of prints you want to use.
-Sand (fine grain of your choice)
-Plaster of Paris (you can find this at most craft & discount stores). Paging Fun Mums used a 1kg bag to do this sized frame. The total cost was $4.95.
-Water (for making plaster)
-Extra piece of cardboard to use to smooth the sand
-Spray on sealer
-Glue gun
-Decorations (optional)
