Prince Harry Will Reportedly Miss Prince Philip’s Memorial Service At the End of March

A memorial service for the late Prince Philip is fast approaching. It’s set for March 29 at Westminster Abbey. However, there will be someone vital not in attendance: Prince Harry. A spokesperson for the royal has confirmed that he will not be making the trip to the United Kingdom with his wife Meghan Markle.

There’s been a lot of speculation over this visit. Originally, the plan was for the Sussexes to visit along with their youngest child, 9-month-old Lilibet, to meet the rest of their family for the first time. However, the last few months have been a battle for Prince Harry and his wife in terms of Home Office security issues in England. His reps say that the two are “unable to return to his home” in fear of their personal welfare.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle live in California with Lilibet and their 2-year-old son, Archie. They do have adequate protection in the States but are concerned about keeping safe overseas, so their visits have been minimal, to say the least.

The last time Prince Harry was in London was during the summer of 2021 in which his security was in fact compromised during a paparazzi car chase after he left a charity event. Before that, he had come back to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral in April of 2021 as well as during a statue unveiling event in memory of his mother Princess Diana in July.

Harry and Meghan have not both been back together since they decided to take a step back from the royal family in March of 2020.

“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages,” Prince Harry said in a statement a the time.

Prince Harry has stayed true to that and says he does plan to visit the Queen, his grandmother, as soon as he can.

As for Prince Philip’s memorial, the Queen, her son Prince Charles, and Prince William will all be in attendance. To hear more about the memorial, what to expect, and why it’s being held, check out the video below.
