This Woman Found Quite the Heavy Surprise in a Goodwill Diaper Bag

We all know that Goodwill is one of the best places to go if you’re looking to nab quality gear at a good deal, but, as with anything used, you can never be too sure EXACTLY what you are buying. Case in point: This instance, where a local shopper ended up with a heck of a lot more than what she bargained for!

Resale entrepreneur Sarah Thomas hits up her local thrift shops often in order to gather together merchandise for her online clothing business. She knows the drill when it comes to scoring a good deal, so when she came across a trendy Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bag, she snatched it up for a cool 3 bucks!

But, this story isn’t about the merits of finding a deal at Goodwill; it goes a bit deeper than that. You see, when Sarah brought the bag home, she noticed that it was awfully heavy. The consignment saleswoman told her local news station KTVL, that she noticed “something shaking around in there.”

Upon further inspection, Sarah found a small hole on the inside lining. She then ripped it open and came across the weighty culprit. Now, we know this story could end up taking a bit of a gross turn—we are talking about a diaper bag after all! —but, what she discovered was much more miraculous than used baby wipes….

There, on the inside of that bag was a blue digital camera, complete with filled memory card and all.

Now, Sarah is an honest soul, so she made it her mission to find the former owner of this diaper bag and camera. If this were a story that was ten years old, we think it would have been difficult for her to track this person down, but with the wonders of the Internet at her fingertips, she was actually able to find the person within the hour.

Yep, you read that right—just one hour! It’s key to note that Sarah is no private detective, all she did was download some of the images from the memory card onto her computer and posted them on Facebook with this message:

I’m not sure if this is ok to post here, but I purchased a diaper bag at the Goodwill and found a blue Sony Cybershot camera inside with photos. Does anyone know who this family or people in these pictures are? I want to make sure they get their camera and most definitely their SD card.

After publishing the post, someone recognized the owner, Katie Connor, from the pictures and sent her Sarah’s way. Talk about follow-through! Go, girl!
