On Monday’s edition of the popular breakfast show “Good Morning Britain,” co-host Piers Morgan made some controversial statements about Meghan Markle. This was shortly after the Oprah interview with Meghan and Harry had been broadcast.

During the Oprah interview, Meghan revealed, among other things, that at one point she had felt suicidal. She also shared with Oprah that when she reached out to the institution of the royal family about going somewhere to get help, she was told that she couldn’t do that. Basically, she was denied treatment for her mental health.

On “Good Morning Britain,” Morgan criticized the Duchess saying that he doesn’t believe her when she says that she was ever suicidal. He added that he doesn’t believe anything she says.

I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report, and the fact that she’s fired up this onslaught against our royal family, I think is contemptible.”

Morgan’s criticism of Meghan was met with shock by his co-host Susanna Reid. A mental health charity named Mind also expressed shock at Morgan’s statements and emphasized how important it is for anyone with mental health problems to be able to get treatment.

On Tuesday, Morgan was once again co-hosting Good Morning Britain. This time, weather man Alex Beresford brought up Morgan’s comments about Meghan from the day before and very clearly expressed how much he disagreed with his colleague. While Beresford was talking, Morgan shocked everyone when he got up and literally walked off the set saying, “See you later. Sorry. Can’t do this.”

Now, ITV has announced that Morgan will not be returning to the morning show. A spokesperson for ITV said in a statement, “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.”

Why do you think Morgan doesn’t believe Meghan when she mentioned that she was suicidal at one point? Do you think it’s the right decision for Morgan to step away from hosting “Good Morning Britain”?
