Remember when you were a little kid and you would make paper snowflakes in school? This was one of our favorite crafts; all you had to do was snip a few cuts into a piece of folded notebook paper and when you unfolded it, you had a gorgeous snowflake that would make mom and dad proud.
If you loved this craft as much as we did, you’re going to love this grown-up version of these DIY snowflakes! Just like we’re all a little bigger than the last time we made paper snowflakes, these flakes are a little bit bigger than we might be used to.
Well…make that a lot bigger.
A Charming Project came up with a way to supersize these once teeny snowflakes, transforming this childhood craft into huge pieces of decorative wall decor. These snowflakes are made with scrapbook paper, so you can use different textures and bolder colors to deck your halls this holiday season.
If you’ve been looking for the perfect wall decor to make your home pop this winter, this DIY is a perfect option. For one thing, it’s a great way to save some dough during this season of spending.
But just because you’re saving some money on this DIY decor doesn’t mean it can’t look just as fabulous as a store bought piece! These giant snowflakes are super trendy, ideal for festive decor, and are a perfect way to make your walls pop with color during a dreary winter.
Here’s what you will need to get started:
- 6 – 12 x 12 sheets of paper for 1 snowflake
- 1 – stapler
- 1 – bone paper folder (optional)
- Scissors

Here at TipHero we were pretty intrigued by these gargantuan pieces of holiday decor. So intrigued that we wanted to give them a try ourselves! After completing the project, we do have a few tips that might improve this already amazing DIY.
If you’re looking to be a little more realistic in your decor, go for full sheets of computer paper. This paper will give you a traditional white appearance, and is also probably hanging around your home right now! So if you’re looking to save even a few MORE bucks, computer paper is exactly what you want to use.
Furthermore, rather than use staples to keep your six sections together, we used double sided tape. This kept the snowflake together just as well as made the snowflake look seamless! We loved this wall decor even more with no obnoxious staples showing.
