Kymberly Herrin may be best known for her role as the Dream Ghost in the original “Ghostbusters” movie and as Playmate of the Month in the March 1981 issue of Playboy. The former actress and model passed away on October 28, 2022. She was 65 years old.

Herrin’s niece, Theresa Ramirez, broke the news of her aunt’s death with a post on Facebook. In the post, she included a picture of Herrin with her two sisters and captioned the photo “They are all together now. Aunt Kymberly Herrin. I love you.“

Herrin was born in Lompoc, California, and she grew up in Santa Barbara, California, where she lived the rest of her life. She graduated from Santa Barbara High School and went on to act in several movies including “Ghostbusters.”

In a 2021 interview with Polygon, Dan Ackroyd talked about the scene between himself and Herrin in the original “Ghostbusters” movie. He said, “Yes, I remember the woman who played that. Her name was Kym Herrin, and she was a Playboy Playmate. She played the ghost. Like, I wish they’d let that scene go a little longer.”

In addition to “Ghostbusters,” Herrin also acted in movies including “Romancing the Stone” and “Beverly Hills Cop II.” Besides movies, she also acted in this ZZ Top music video for “Legs.”

In addition to her acting career, she also worked as a model. She was Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in March 1981, and she also modeled for FIT magazine.

According to her obituary, Herrin “loved to travel and sail.” She spent part of her life living and traveling on a yacht.

A cause of death was not mentioned in the obituary, but there was a message asking anyone who wishes to give something in Herrin’s honor to “make a donation in Kym’s memory to the American Cancer Society to further the research of the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.”

Herrin is survived by her mother, brother and multiple nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
