Hypothetical question: if your all-time favorite musical artist (and long-time crush!) was set to play a concert on your wedding day, would you delay your nuptials in order to see the show? Yep, we wouldn’t either! Nevertheless, there are some super fans out there who would do pretty much anything to catch a glimpse of their idol in action.
Take this Louisiana concert-goer, for instance. This super forward lady snagged the attention of the one-and-only Garth Brooks—and even managed to make the normally stoic guy blush!
At the start of the video, there doesn’t seem to be anything out of place—it’s just your standard Garth Brooks concert. Lots of screaming fans, a 10-gallon hat, and that iconic headset that has become synonymous with the country crooner’s image. All is going as planned UNTIL the performer looks out into the crowd and see a very interesting message.
“You gotta explain this to me because I hope this sign is not true,” Garth says to the woman.
We find out that she was actually set to get married the day of the concert, but she postponed the most important day of her life in order to see her favorite musician. Talk about commitment! (Well, maybe not a commitment to her fiancée, but definitely a commitment to Garth Brooks!)
After some hilarious back-and-forth, Garth decides to get this passionate lady’s priorities back in check. He learns that her soon-to-be-hubby’s name is Ken, so the country singer dedicates the next song to her “from Ken.”
It’s one of his more romantic ballads, “She’s Every Woman,” but it doesn’t seem to match the fan’s mood because halfway through his performance, she holds up another sign…
Yikes!
Now, if you aren’t acquainted with the term “hall pass”, here’s how the ever-informative Urban Dictionary defines it:
Hall Pass
Permission given by your lover to fool around with another person outside your relationship.
Yikes! You get the bride-to-be’s drift now?
It goes without saying that the country superstar is completely shocked by this fan’s public proposition, so much so that he can’t find it within himself to continue on with the sweet melody he had been singing before. He doubles over, laughing so hard that he is wiping tears from his eyes.
When he finally gathers himself, the singer decides to change directions—that ballad certainly didn’t match the mood, did it?
Garth points at the woman and says, “I’m singing entirely the wrong song for you, honey!”
It’s then that the crooner bursts into a rendition of “That Summer,” a song that—you guessed it—is all about an affair. It’s certainly much more apropos.
Pretty wild stuff, huh? To see the full exchange between Garth Brooks and this diehard super fan, be sure to watch the video below. That’s one way to get a performer’s attention!
What do you think about this story? Is there an artist you would postpone your wedding to see? Who is your “hall pass”? What is your favorite Garth Brooks song?
