If an expensive spa facial isn’t in the cards for you, you can still enjoy a little bit of pampering at home. A facial should rejuvenate your skin, and this can be accomplished with ingredients that you probably already have in your refrigerator or pantry.

If you want to do a skin sensitivity test before putting anything on your face, make up the mask ingredients and place it on your wrist and see if there is any reaction within 15 minutes. If you have no reaction then you might be fine but if you are still concerned then only apply the mask to your jaw line to see if there is any adverse reaction. Be sensible. It is better to avoid any ingredients that you have doubts about then find out that they make you break out in hives. Never try a mask (or any new beauty product) for the first time before you have an important event.
Here are a couple of facial methods to try out:
- Sour Cream: the natural enzymes in dairy react well with skin (hence why Cleopatra used to bathe in milk). Apply a thick layer to your face and relax for 20 minutes before washing off.
- Oatmeal: try this method for extreme exfoliation. Grind up a cup of oatmeal and add 1/4 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of almond oil. Apply this to your face and let sit for 20 minutes. When you remove the facial with water, gently rub mixture on your face in small circular buffing motions.
