Krispy Kreme Will Give Out Free Donuts to Graduating Seniors This Week

If not for the COVID-19 pandemic, high school and college seniors would’ve been walking across the stage to get their degrees and tossing their cap in the air in true traditional graduation fashion this week.

Instead, they’re celebrating by, well, social distancing. Sure, some people are getting creative—like this dad who built a real stage in his driveway so that his daughter could have a proper graduation, or the Florida high school principal who honored seniors by lining the campus driveway with their photos. Many schools have also celebrated seniors with drive-by parades where students and their parents can celebrate by honking and waving to each other.

Of course, none of this is the same as the real thing. And many seniors are having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that they aren’t able to graduate in the manner that they’ve been picturing for four years.

While no one can truly make it better, one fast-food joint is trying to cheer up upset seniors who would’ve been having a graduation ceremony this week. Krispy Kreme understands that donuts can’t change the pandemic circumstances, but they certainly can sweeten up the moment—literally.

That’s why the donut restaurant is offering a dozen donuts each to both seniors graduating high school or college.

“We feel for all of the high school and college seniors. We wish they had that moment of walking across the stage and getting their diploma,” Krispy Kreme marketing chief Dave Skena said. “We can’t replace that … but we thought we could help them safely have a little fun and enjoy a special ‘Graduate Dozen’ on us. Moms, dads, friends, and family can buy this ‘Graduate Dozen’ all week long to honor their favorite graduates, but only seniors can get one for free.”

The box of donuts comes with four flavors: Chocolate Iced Kreme Filled, Strawberry Ice Kreme Filled, Cake Batter Filled, and Yellow Iced Original Glazed.

What’s more, every other donut has a “2” on it, which, when sitting next to a circular donut, spells out “2020” three separate times. (It’s the perfect Instagram shot for these youngsters missing out on what they would’ve posted!)

All seniors need to do to claim their free “Graduate Dozen,” as its been so deemed, is head on over to their local Krispy Kreme in their graduation cap and gown (or another outfit that shows their 2020 graduation spirit) and they’ll get their free “Graduate Dozen.”
