Getting vaccinated for COVID-19 is one important step in moving beyond this pandemic. Currently, 50% of adults in the United States have received at least one dose of one of the COVID-19 vaccines, and now, even more people are eligible.

At first only adults in certain groups could get vaccinated, for example, healthcare workers and senior citizens. Younger people who didn’t have a job that qualified them for the vaccine had to patiently wait their turn. The wait is over.

Currently, all 50 states have changed the vaccination eligibility to allow anyone age 16 or older to get vaccinated. That means that if you have been waiting for your turn, it’s now your turn as long as you are 16 or older. Granted, you may have trouble getting an appointment for a vaccination right away since so many more people are now eligible to get vaccinated. Still, this is very good news.

If you have yet to make your appointment to get vaccinated, now is the time. If you have trouble finding any available appointments, it can be helpful to turn to your friends and neighbors who have successfully made appointments to ask for advice.

Don’t forget that some pharmacies and even grocery stores have vaccines available. You just might have more luck making an appointment at your local pharmacy than you have going through your healthcare provider or health department.

Even if there is a vaccine location close to your home, you might need to be willing to drive further away. If there is an available appointment at a location in a nearby town, it’s probably better to take that time slot than to wait for an appointment at a vaccination location that’s just down the street.

Have you gotten vaccinated for COVID-19? If not, are you planning on getting vaccinated soon?
