As you well know, we are absolutely OBSESSED with deviled eggs and finding ways to make them easier to hard-boil and whip up. There’s one way we definitely never considered before, though, and it involves making them a different kind of shape entirely: square! How do you get SQUARE deviled eggs? By making them according to this recipe from Food Network Kitchen that doesn’t require you to hard-boil them at all. Instead, you’re going to BAKE your egg whites and scramble the yolks. Sound crazy? It’ll all make sense when you watch THIS.
What’s especially great about this idea is that the ingredients are all the usual suspects you know and love. So if you were already planning to make some deviled eggs, you can switch to this technique without a fuss!
You’ll Just Need
–12 large eggs
–⅓ cup mayonnaise
–1 tablespoon white vinegar
–2 teaspoons yellow mustard
–Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
–Paprika and sliced chives, for garnish, optional
Then, as you saw in the video, instead of hard boiling, you bake the egg whites (for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit) and scramble the yolks. Mix the scrambled yolks as you normally would – you can also use a food processor! – and top the sliced, baked yolks. Voila! A perfect take on the classic, with a twist.
