Drew Barrymore Apologizes For Her Comments About Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s Trial

Drew Barrymore is a successful and fairly likable actress turned talk-show host. She is often very real with the guests on her show, and it’s refreshing; however, she is not perfect, and she admits it. That is also refreshing.

On a recent show, Barrymore thought it was appropriate to make a comment about the trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. The exes are currently in court. It all started when Heard wrote an op-ed claiming she was a victim of domestic abuse. She didn’t specifically name Depp, but he claims the timing of it made it obvious she was talking about him.

Depp claims that Heard ruined his career and reputation with her op-ed. He also claims that he never physically abused her. Instead, he claims she is the one who abused him.

While Barrymore has been honest about difficult times in her own life and is no stranger to being in the public eye, she finds it “crazy” how much information Heard and Depp are sharing with the world about their lives. On “The Drew Barrymore Show,” she said, “It’s like one layer of crazy, it’s a seven-layer dip of insanity. I know that these are two people’s real lives and I know what it’s like to have your life put out in public. I understand all the feelings, but they are actually offering up this information that nobody had to know. This is crazy!”

After her comments about Depp and Heard, Barrymore received a lot of backlash. Many fans felt her comments were insensitive and out-of-line. Instead of ignoring these comments or defending herself, Barrymore decided to apologize.

On Instagram, Barrymore posted a video where she described the criticism as “a teachable moment.” She said, “I just want to deeply apologize.” She added, “I can be a more thoughtful and better person moving forward because all I want to do is be a good person and I very much appreciate the depth of this and I will grow and change from it.”
