If you’re a parent, you know there are more rough days than others. Sure, some days your kid is a total angel. But then there are the days of full on tantrums in the toy store, the days of crying fits over eating broccoli, the days of whining over which shoes your kid wants to wear that day.
One of the most stressful places of all time though? Is an airport. Even adults want to throw full on temper tantrums when their flight gets delayed or worse, when you miss your flight. We might even call it one of the most tiring places on the planet.
But adults eventually can get their stuff together. Kids on the other hand might find it more difficult to tolerate the airport. Case in point: One little girl who was traveling with her dad on New Year’s Day.
After a long flight to Washington’s Dulles International Airport, the girl was cranky, exhausted, and refused to walk. So her father did all he could think to do to get her to get moving: He took her by the hood of her jacket and dragged her along the floor like she was his rolling suitcase.
The little girl wasn’t phased by it at all–she was just we presume, pretty tired from her flight. Who knows, maybe being dragged was more comfy than being held?
A bystander nearby took a video of it and shared it on Facebook. It’s since been shared over 120,000 times and has racked up hundreds of thousands of comments.
First, Carson Daly had something to say about it: “The child’s just hanging out, and dad’s doing the heavy lifting there. It’s a win-win. It’s easy for the kid, it’s easy for dad, and he’s cleaning the airport. It’s like a Swiffer.”
As far as people who saw the video on Facebook, sure, there were a few “Um, is this child abuse?” comments, but the majority of parents actually found it completely relatable.
Most said that the dad should be praised, and that they would’ve done the same exact thing (or have done the same thing in the past).
“This is great. There are times when you just can’t reason with a young one. There was no yelling no screaming and she had to get on that plane so I think it was the best thing to do. I’d keep this video and show it at her wedding,” one woman posted.
“I would never do this to my child, even if they were doing tantrums and crying. I would go down to their level and calm them down. And wait until they agree to walk, even if it costs me my flight!! YEAH RIGHT!!! Rock on dad!!” another commentor wrote.
“I’d say the parent acted however they thought at the time was suitable. No violence, screaming or shouting. Both look pretty calm. I’d say it’s a go lol,” someone else wrote.
