Done right or done wrong, plastic surgery is something that can address deformities, insecurities, and even some health problems. Sometimes it’s detectable and sometimes it’s not, but you can usually spot celebs who have had work done.

In that group is Courteney Cox, who spent years getting fillers to reduce lines and other signs of aging that appeared in her face. The Friends actress admitted that she took things a bit overboard with cosmetic procedures on her skin, but is happy to report that she’s changed her outlook on looks.

A candid interview with New Beauty revealed that Cox was reared in a household that placed an emphasis on the external. That and living the Hollywood life conditioned her into believing that she needed to invest a lot in what she looked like.

Feeling the pressure of being a woman in show business and concerns about aging, Cox regularly paid visits to various specialists to get rid of wrinkles and marks. Now in her early fifties, she’s proud to say that she had all her fillers dissolved and is enjoying her natural state. But it took one truthful friend to help get her there:

“Well, what would end up happening is that you go to a doctor who would say, ‘You look great, but what would help is a little injection here or filler there’ So you walk out and you don’t look so bad and you think, no one noticed—it’s good.”

“Then somebody tells you about another doctor. . . The next thing you know, you’re layered and layered and layered. You have no idea because it’s gradual until you go, ‘Oh sh*t, this doesn’t look right.’ And it’s worse in pictures than in real life. I have one friend who was like, ‘Whoa, no more!’”

Besides seeing how much her facial structure changed in pictures, Cox came to a point of self-acceptance so she could be an example for her teenage daughter, Coco. She doesn’t want her to grow up with an obsession about her outwardly appearance.

Instead, Cox is all about having confidence and accepting that as we get older, things are going to change and that’s okay.

I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself. I think that I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do. Things are going to change. Everything’s going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles—they’re smile lines..”

She also spoke about how she feels young on the inside thanks to eating right and following an exercise routine. And, Cox is also open to having another child sometime in the future.

With all the strides in the medical field, she’s not averse to making it happen with her younger boyfriend. For now, she’s enjoying things the way they are.

Can you see the difference in Courteney Cox’s appearance before and after fillers? What are your thoughts on Hollywood and cosmetic procedures? Are you a fan of plastic surgery?
