Another one of Loretta’s granddaughters, Emmy Russell, has inherited Loretta’s musical ability. She competed on American Idol this year and made it to Hollywood. When she was younger, Russell performed on stage with her grandmother.
In Southern Living’s “Biscuits & Jam” podcast, Russell explained that her grandmother “passed down her guitar to me when I was 15 at the Ryman Auditiorium. She said ‘You’re the one that can do it.’ She always thought I had this spark about me ever since I was a little kid. She felt she needed to give me the guitar as the torch in a way.”
Russell also shared her grandmother’s advice with FOX News Digital. That advice was “to love God.” Russell said, “She was such a lover of God and I think it was more of, ‘Listen to him and follow his voice.’”
