Confusion Over Mask Messaging Grows In Airports and College Campuses

In the pre-pandemic days, the only time you saw someone wearing a face mask was if they worked in a medical field, at a lab or in construction. Then the pandemic hit, and for a time, everyone wore a face mask pretty much everywhere.

Now, things have changed. Many people are still wearing face masks in public, but many others are ready to ditch the face masks and move on with life.

In some cases, mask mandates force us all to wear face masks whether we want to or not. For example, until recently, face masks were required on airplanes. Now, that mask mandate has been lifted, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you won’t need a face mask in order to travel. Some airports are still requiring face masks, for example, at LAX in Los Angeles.

Then there’s the matter of college campuses where students are confused about whether or not they need to wear a face mask on campus. The answer is that it depends on the week. Some schools have recently set a new mask mandate after lifting the mask mandate only weeks ago.

Our best advice if you plan on traveling or if you’re not sure what the mask rules are in a certain location is to bring a face mask with you just in case you need it. Even if you don’t need one right now, it’s possible that the rules could change in the near future and vice versa.

Do you still wear a face mask everywhere you go? Do you think face mask messaging is confusing? Are you more or less likely to get on an airplane now that the mask mandate has been lifted? Do you think there will be an up-tick in Covid cases now that the mask mandate has been lifted on airplanes?
