Guy Gets Completely Roasted for Complaining About Being a Single Dad
Most single parents get a lot of praise. Raising a kid on your own is no joke—there are diapers to change, mouths to feed, laundry to do, a house to keep clean, the list goes on and on. And doing it alone can feel nearly impossible.
However, there’s one circumstance where no one is gong to feel bad for you. And that’s if you accidentally get someone pregnant, don’t let them go ahead with giving them up when she says that’s what she wants to do, and then openly take full accountability for the baby when it’s born, but then later decide that you resent them and want the mother to be more involved. Sorry, dude, but you’re on your own.
That’s one man’s story, who posted on Reddit for some support—except, that’s the last thing he got. Let us explain.
This man explains in a now-viral post that he got a girl pregnant. He says that she wanted to get an abortion, but he didn’t want to go through with that, so now he’s raising the child on his own.
“We went to court to figure custody and support could be figured out and I have 100% full legal and physical custody,” the man explains.
The mother pays 125% of the court-ordered child support. “She says that if I ever marry someone who want to adopt him she will agree but until then she’ll pay support,” the man writes. “It’s been this way since our son was born.”
He goes on to explain that he’s raising his son all by himself and now, at 18 months, he’s starting to get pretty annoyed that his child has never met his mother. “I am burned out and hate being a single parent,” he admits. “I love my son but I resent him.”
Because they’ve already made agreements that the mother wanted nothing to do with the son and pays child support, the man says that the judge said he can’t force her to look after him, leaving him to fend for himself.
At the end of the post, he asked if anyone knows of any legal remedies, adding that the mom is a “deadbeat mom” and “court won’t do anything and is forcing me to struggle as a single parent.”
He may have thought he’d get some support from the Internet, but he got far from it. The comments were brutal.
“Congratulations, you know how what life looks like for most single mothers,” someone wrote. “Grow up, you entitled twit.”
“You got exactly what you bargained for,” another person commented. “So now it’s time to man up and be a father. You have no legal remedies other than giving your son up for adoption.”
“You are an arrogant, entitled abuser,” another person promoted. “You tried to coerce this woman into having a child she didn’t want and then raise it for you. You’re now angry and resent the child because your attempt at reproductive control over this woman didn’t work.”
Yikes. We bet this wasn’t’ what he was looking for. What do you think—is he being unreasonable or should he be entitled to help?
