Coke in Talks to Make Cannabis-Infused Drinks
Coca-Cola is reportedly in talks with Aurora Cannabis Inc. of Canada to create cannabis-infused drinks.
According to a report by BNN Bloomberg a source said: Coca-Cola is interested in developing beverages that are infused with cannabidiol, commonly referred to as CBD, the non-psychoactive chemical found in marijuana plants.
Rather than create drinks that will create a buzz, Coke and Aurora are interested in creating drinks that will reduce inflamation and pain.
A spokesman for Coca-Cola would not confirm or deny new business development plans after being reached by BNN Bloomberg and Fox Business.
A spokesman did tell Fox Business they are “closely watching the growth of non-psychoactive CBD as an ingredient in functional wellness beverages around the world.”
Aurora’s stock was up 16% on the news.
