Twitter Users Have a Field Day With CDC Graphic About the Dangers of Swimming With Diarrhea

One of our favorite ways to relax and cool down on a hot summer day is to enjoy a dip a swimming pool. Wether you like to swim laps, do a cannonball, toss around a water balloon or go down a pool slide, one thing is definitely true – you don’t want to go in the pool if you have diarrhea.

While most of us have been more familiar than ever with the CDC over the past year due to the pandemic, the CDC does more than inform us about whether or not it’s necessary to wear a face mask and keep 6 feet apart from people who are not part of our household. At this moment in time, as life gets back to normal, the CDC wants to warn us about the dangers of diarrhea and swimming pools.

In order to get their message across, the CDC created an info graphic where happy children and a dad are in a swimming pool. Then a smiling little girl comes down the pool slide, but wait, what’s that on the slide behind her? See this info graphic for yourself below.

Many people on Twitter find this graphic amusing. Some because surely we all know not to go in the pool if we have diarrhea, but then again, did we all really know how to wash our hands correctly before the pandemic?

One Twitter user pointed out another quite unexpected graphic that’s apparently on the CDC website about the dangers of swimming with diarrhea. In this case, a little girl is sitting inside a toilet.

Do you think it was necessary for the CDC to create a graphic to explain why we shouldn’t go in a swimming pool if we have diarrhea?
