I don’t know about you, but when it comes to celebrity pregnancies, I just can’t stop refreshing Instagram pages. As each week or month passes, it gets closer to the time we get to see—I mean, they get to meet—their child.
When country singer Carrie Underwood announced her pregnancy in August of 2018 with husband Mike Fisher, we were so happy for the couple! But she really wasn’t the type to post too many bump photos throughout the pregnancy on her account.
She posted a few of her firstborn son, Isaiah Michael, whose 3, laying on her bump or helping her tie her shoes, but they were so few are far between that it only led us to wanting more.
We waited patiently for the little one to arrive. And then on Monday, January 21, Jacob Bryan Fisher made his big debut into the world.
Underwood made us wait two whole days until she posted the happy news, but it was well worth the wait.
She posted three photos displaying herself, her hubby and her other son, new big brother Isaiah Michael, 3, with the newborn, and captioned the carousel with:
“Jacob Bryan Fisher entered the world in the wee hours of the morning on Monday…his mom, dad and big brother couldn’t be happier for God to trust them with taking care of this little miracle! Our hearts are full, our eyes are tired and our lives are forever changed. Life is good…”
When Carrie first had Isaiah three years ago, she expected parenting to be excruciatingly difficult. And while it had its tough parts, Carrie said that Isaiah was an easy baby.
“I think I honestly expected—I know it’s going to sound weird—but I expected the worst,” she said. “I’ve never been around babies before, to be honest, but he’s so laid back! It surprised me that it’s a little easier than I thought it was going to be. I think I just expected, like, screaming crying baby all the time, and he’s just happy and smiley and gorgeous.”
But that doesn’t mean getting pregnant wasn’t always rainbows and sunshine for Carrie and her family. She recently confirmed to CBS that she suffered three miscarriages in the last two years. She also experienced a nasty fall that led to injury on her face where she needed around 50 stitches.
Carrie said how sometimes the tough stuff in lives leads to inspiration in her songwriting.
“I feel like there’s a lot of songs, there’s several songs on the album that came from that, you know, or I connect with in a totally different way because of those experiences that we went through,” she said. “And they were hard. And it sucked so much! But things are looking better.”
It may have been a tough road to get to where she is now, but she’s looking forward to experiencing life as a family of four.
