With the Super Bowl on the horizon, coming up quickly on February 3, people have already begun to place their bets—and their food orders. After all, part of the fun of Super Bowl is all the hearty food that goes along with it—nachos, meatballs, and of course buffalo chicken wings.
Let’s talk about buffalo wings for a moment shall we? Excuse us for drooling, but buffalo chicken wings are one of those foods that’s hard to dislike. The tanginess, the spiciness, the sheer deliciousness that is buffalo flavor—it’s truly unlike any other appetizer in this world (can you tell we’re hardcore buffalo chicken fans?).
It almost feels like some kind of dream that Buffalo Wild Wings, America’s largest sports bar, has just made the entire country the offer of a lifetime.
The chain recently announced that if the Super Bowl match between the New England Patriots an the Los Angeles Rams happens to go into overtime, everyone in America will win free wings.
Nope, this is not some kind of a gimmick—they really mean it! Let us reiterate: EVERYONE in America gets FREE WINGS. What.
Understandably so, the wings aren’t going to be available on Super Bowl Sunday, but they will be available on February 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. at their chains.
Everyone in America will be eligible for a free order of snack-sized (five pieces) traditional or boneless wings during this time, (remember, pending the game goes into overtime).
You don’t have to buy anything else, but there is one catch: You do have to dine in and can’t take out. They will also only allow one order per customer. Fair!
“We know fans get a thrill out of having something riding on the outcome of the game, and given the number of overtime games we’ve seen all season, we wanted to up the ante for everyone,” said Buffalo Wild Wings Chief Marketing Officer Seth Freeman. “Even if you don’t have a dog in the fight, we all have a common rooting interest in extending the game because that means more football and, now, free wings!”
It’s not like the restaurant needs to do anything to up their sales. Football fans flock to Buffalo Wild Wings ever Super Bowl, making it one of the highest sales days of the year for the chain.
In fact, over 14 million traditional and boneless wings were sold at Buffalo Wild Wings last year on the Super Bowl!
So instead of rooting for one or the other team to win, let’s all just root for the game to go into overtime! Sure, we’ll be a little more tired at work on Monday for staying up that late, but free buffalo wings are worth it in our eyes!
What kinds of food do you typically eat on Super Bowl Sunday? Are you a buffalo chicken fan? Are you going to take advantage of this offer if the Super Bowl goes into overtime? Which team will you rooting for in the game?
