When you wake up on the morning of your wedding, you’re probably feeling a lot of different things: happy (hopefully), nervous, excited, scared, to name a few. But this Michigan bride woke up on the morning of her special day to an unusual feeling — she was in labor.
Jael and John Pulcipher were planning to get hitched that fateful day at a gorgeous, lakeside venue. But little baby Briar had other plans for the couple, arriving six weeks before her intended due date.
“The initial reaction was, ‘Oh God, what are we going to do?'” Jael told Inside Edition.
With 70 guests coming to celebrate the soon-to-be newlyweds, Jael and John were in quite a pickle. They had been so excited to celebrate their big day and so many people were going out of their way to attend the wedding, but nothing could stop the unplanned birth of their little girl.
Ultimately, they decided to do the only they could do: call off the wedding. Don’t worry, the couple rearranged a few things so that all their planning wasn’t wasted!
After some relocation, the entire reception was moved to the basement of the hospital where Jael was giving birth. Now all they had to do was wait for the “diva baby” to arrive.
Hours later, baby Briar was born very healthy despite her premature entrance into the world. By 5:00 PM that day, Jael was feeling strong enough to go down to the basement of the hospital and greet their guests — her newborn child in her arms.
The reaction from the guests to unexpectedly see the couple’s newborn baby must have been heartwarming! We would have to imagine there wasn’t a dry eye in the house at this surprising by this beautiful surprise.
Jael and John would get officially married some weeks later, but the reception still went on that day as planned! Safe to say, this couple threw a party unlike anything you’ve ever heard of before.
