On January 8, 2022, Bob Saget was in Jacksonville, Florida, performing stand up at what he thought was the start of his comedy tour. Instead, it ended up being his final performance.

The show went really well, and Saget expressed his joy on social media. He also called his wife, Kelly Rizzo, to tell her how happy he was that the show went well and to tell her he would see her the next day.

Saget lived in Los Angeles, California, and Rizzo was expecting him to fly home the next day, on January 9.

On January 9, Saget’s family was unable to get in touch with him. After several attempts to reach the comedian and actor, his family contacted the hotel and asked them to check on him. He was found unresponsive in his room at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando, Florida, around 4pm Eastern Time. His death was a shock to everyone.

It has been 10 days since the news of Saget’s death. His wife, children, friends and co-workers have had to come to terms with the fact that he is really gone.

As a way of honoring her late husband’s memory, Rizzo, Saget’s widow, decided to sit down for an interview with Good Morning America’s T.J. Holmes. In the interview, she talked about the last text she got from Saget, and their very last phone conversation. She also talked about the things she would like everyone to know about her husband and explained why the people who knew him best keep talking about his amazing hugs.

Watch the video below to hear the emotional and touching interview with Rizzo and to learn a little bit more about Saget’s big heart and big hugs.

According to TMZ, Saget died in his sleep. His cause of death has yet to be determined, but foul play has been ruled out. Law enforcement believes he may have died from a medical emergency such as a stroke or a heart attack. Saget had recently battled Covid-19. In some cases, Covid-19 has led to blood clots, so that is being looked into as well. It could be 10-12 weeks before we know the exact cause of death.

As mentioned in the video, The Scleroderma Research Foundation will be matching donations made in honor of Saget up to a total of $1.5 million. If you would like to make a donation in Saget’s honor, you can do so here.
