Skincare is very important from an early age. It helps prevent wrinkles and other damage as you age. Many people have their own nighttime skincare routine that they do before bed, but trends are showing that unless you glisten “like a glazed doughnut” before you hit the hay, then you’re doing it wrong.

Hear us out—or at least, hear Hailey Bieber out. When she launched her YouTube channel last year, she began to share many of her skincare secrets, but this is the best one. “My standard when I go to bed at night is that if I’m not getting into bed looking like a glazed donut, then I’m not doing the right thing,” Bieber and she made her face glow with her favorite skin products.

Of course, the trend took off, and “glazed donut skin” has been all over TikTok with people sharing how they make their face look before going to bed each night.

The key to getting glazed donut skin? Making sure your skin is as hydrated and protected as it can be. “Find yourself a moisturizer that helps you look like a glazed donut at the end of the day,” said Bieber.

You’ll need to invest in a few hydrating products, like ones that contain glycerin and squalene, ingredients that make your skin softer and more glowy—you know, like a delicious glazed donut!

Bieber’s skincare routine is as follows: She double cleanses her face, applies a serum on her damp skin, and finished with a hydrating moisturizer. If she wants even more shine—or excuse us, extra glaze—she adds a face oil.

It’s important to find a serum with antioxidants, which helps with cell turnover and collagen production, which can do wonders for your skin. You don’t need to necessarily use the ones that Bieber uses—there are lots that are going to provide the same effects.

TODAY style editor Bobbie Thomas joined hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on a recent episode discussing this latest skin care trend that’s taking over the internet, and why the whole glazed donut thing is actually super beneficial.
