Oh yes. Lightly fried tacos, dusted with cinnamon-sugar. And inside? A delicious filling of apple pie mixture. Oh— and topped with whipped cream, caramel sauce, and powdered sugar. A combination of sheer delight!

Perfect for holiday spreads, these dessert tacos require little time to assemble. All you really need is a frying pan and about 30 minutes.

If I can make this delicious recipe, then trust me, anyone can. (Truth be told, I’m not the cook in my house. But with desserts – like this one – I may as well be.) Sugar is known to draw out fruits’ natural juices, making the perfect flavor super easy to achieve.

Apple Pie Tacos
Prep: 5 Mins | Total: 30 Mins
Serves: 6 tacos
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients
3 Cups Granny Smith Apples, diced (about 3 apples)
2 Tablespoons Butter
1/4 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
1 1/2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
6 each Flour Tortillas (taco sized tortillas)
2 Cups Vegetable Oil (can substitute other neutral oil with a high smoke point)
1/2 Cup Cinnamon Sugar
1 Cup Whipped Cream (Optional)
1/2 Cup Caramel Sauce (Optional)
1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar (Optional)
Directions
In a large pan over medium heat, add butter, apples, water, cinnamon, salt, and brown sugar. Stir to combine, and cook, stirring often until apples are soft, about 10 minutes. The apples will cook faster if you cover the pan in the beginning of the cooking process.
Heat vegetable oil in a medium sauce pan over medium-high heat (you want the oil to reach 350F/175C). Carefully fold your tortillas in half and use a pair of tongs to keep it folded. Place the bottom part of the tortilla in the oil and fry until golden brown, about 30 seconds. Lay the tortilla on it’s side and fry until golden brown, flip over and fry the other side until golden brown. Remove shell from oil and drain on a paper towel lined plate or a wire rack. Coat the finished shell with cinnamon-sugar. Repeat this process with the remaining tortillas to create your taco shells.
Gently spoon cooled apple mixture into your taco shells. Top with whipped cream, caramel sauce, and powdered sugar, if desired.

“I only want a bite” will never be uttered.

When frying the tortillas, try to make the bottoms flat so the tacos can stand on their own. Alternatively, you can use an inverted muffing tin to hold finished tacos.
