Can you be “sort of” engaged to someone? Yes, according to Adele!

The “Easy on Me” singer was first seen with a massive diamond ring on her ring finger at the recent Brit Awards, prompting people to ask if she and her sports agent boyfriend Rich Paul had said yes to forever.

She was officially asked the question about her engagement status when she appeared on a recent episode of the U.K. program “The Graham Norton Show.”

While host Norton was expecting some sort of resounding, “YES!” she was kind of wishy-washy in answering. “If I was, would I ever tell anyone if I was or wasn’t?” she had responded.

Wait, what? Adele, what does that even mean?!

In the interview, Norton asked Adele about her postponed Las Vegas residency, and she said it was going to happen later in the year—why? Because she plans on having a baby.

“It is absolutely 100 percent happening this year. It has to happen this year because I’ve got plans for next year,” she said. “Imagine if I have to cancel because I am having a baby?”

Okay, we think she’s kidding on that one?

“The sooner I can announce, the better,” she said of new dates for the residency, “but I just can’t in case we are not ready in time.”

Adele and Paul first started seeing each other, she didn’t share the news with her close friends right away. “I didn’t really tell many of my friends at the beginning because I wanted to keep it to myself,” she admitted in a Rolling Stone interview.

However, when she did begin to date him, she was very open about it because of how great the relationship felt to her. She called the relationship one of the most “incredible, openhearted, and easiest” relationships she’s ever been in.

In another interview with Vogue, she said that she never feels “anxious or nervous or frazzled” with Paul. “It’s quite the opposite. It’s wild,” she added.

Of course, when you’re a celebrity, there are always going to be rumors that fly that aren’t always true. Before her engagement, there was lots of speculation of there being trouble in paradise with the two. She tweeted, “Oh, and Rich sends his love,” with a heart emoji, to nip those in the bud.

Adele has been married once before—to ex-husband, Simon Konecki. They got married in 2019 and share one son together, 9-year-old Angelo. She finalized her divorce after she confirmed her relationship with Paul over the summer.
