Actress Robyn Griggs is best known for playing Stephanie Hobart on the soap opera “One Life to Live” and playing Maggie Cory on “Another World.” Later, Griggs acted in several independent made-for-video horror/thriller movies.
In 2020, Griggs was diagnosed with stage 4 endocervical adeno cancer. She was very public about her battle with cancer and regularly posted updates.
In 2021, in an interview with “Call Me Adam,” Griggs explained what it was like to battle cancer during the pandemic. She said, “I love to laugh — that’s my way of coping, and so I made sure to find something funny to think about.” She added, “Depression is a terrible thing and I definitely have moments of that, but I remember … I’m still here.”
Griggs is no longer “still here.”
On June 13, on Griggs official Instagram page, she shared an update that she had 4 new tumors. She asked for prayers and was starting chemo the following Monday. She told the doctors “whatever it takes.”
Just three days ago, an update was added to Instagram explaining that Griggs’ father had shared that she was entering hospice care.
On Saturday August 13, 2022, Griggs’ friend announced on her Facebook page that the actress had passed away. Her friend wrote, “Hi everyone, With a heavy heart, I am saddened to announce Robyn’s passing. However, she is no longer suffering and would want us to remember that and the good memories. I will never forget how open she was to telling her story, and accepting of me helping her tell it. She wanted to help people and spread the word of her story to do it. I was honored to do so. RIP my friend, I love you and smile when I think of you.”
Meanwhile, her best friend shared a picture of Griggs to Griggs’ Instagram page explaining that Griggs took the selfie shortly before finding out she had cervical cancer.
Griggs was only 49 years old.
