When you watch live TV or a streaming service that isn’t ad free, chances are you end up feeling like you’re watching the exact same commercials over and over again. There have been times we have even seen the exact same commercial play back to back. It can be really annoying.

Then there are the commercials that move you. The ones that are powerful beyond just what they are advertising. We often see commercials like this during events like the Super Bowl where the commercials almost seem like mini movies.

Many companies create commercials specifically for the Super Bowl. Many times, these commercials air for the very first time during the Super Bowl, but often they continue to air over and over again after the Super Bowl is over.

Back in 2002, Budweiser worked with the city of New York to create a commercial that was a tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11. The commercial aired during halftime of Super Bowl XXXVI. It did not air again until Budweiser updated it 10 years later.

In the commercial, we see the Budweiser Clydesdales leave a snow covered farm and walk to New York City where the horses take a knee with the New York skyline behind them.

Bob Lachky, former executive vice president of Anheuser-Busch Global Creative, told FOX 2, “We filmed in New York City. We had a helicopter going over the Brooklyn Bridge. Mayor (Rudy) Giuliani let us into the city — the only film company of any sort right after 9/11. To actually come into air space with our helicopter to film the Clydesdale … the hitch coming into Battery Park and it was amazing … just amazing.”

Do you remember seeing this Super Bowl commercial when it originally aired? Why do you think Budweiser didn’t air the commercial again?
