One of the reasons that we love fall so much is because it’s unofficially time to cook and bake with pumpkin. If you’re looking for some frugal inspiration, try out some of these recipes from the $5 Dinner Mom:
- Pumpkin Pie French Toast: for less than $5, you can make a delicious fall brunch for 4. You’ll need whole wheat bread, eggs, milk, canned pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, butter, syrup and some fresh fruit for the side.
- Pumpkin Spice Baked Oatmeal: here’s a fall breakfast that you can make in bulk and bake in the oven. $5 Dinners recommends serving this treat with milk, yogurt or Greek yogurt.
- Pumpkin Applesauce: here’s a great snack that you can pack in your kids’ lunch or have ready as an after-school treat.
- Pumpkin Spice Latte: instead of giving in to the temptation of Starbucks, make your own pumpkin spice latte with milk, pumpkin puree, vanilla, sweetener, and of course, coffee.
- DIY Pumpkin Spice: you’ll notice that a lot of pumpkin-themed recipes require a pumpkin pie spice. Instead of purchasing this ingredient, just make your own out of the spices already in your pantry.
